Capetown, know as the "mother city", is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it has everything from fine restaurants and entertainment venues to beautiful scenery and a unique cultural atmosphere.
On the balmy southern coast of the KwaZulu-Natal region is Durban, Africa's biggest port. Durban has warm-water beaches, historical museums, Indian markets. Zulu galleries, gardens and a snake park.
Umhlanga Rocks, a few miles north of Durban, is another regional favourite for dolphin watching and surfing.
The province of Eastern Transvaal is home to one of the world's greatest wildlife treasures, Kruger National Park, which features more than 500 species of rare and exotic mammals and birds, including lions and leopards.
For night-time entertainment, South Africa's lively, cosmopolitan cities such as Pretoria and Johannesburg boast theatre performances, Broadway musicals, concerts, cinemas, nightclubs, discos and restaurants.
